Part
1: Marketing Report
- Firstly,
you should clearly introduce your new product/service idea. This should be
a short section which articulates how you came to the idea (e.g. market
need), and what exactly about it is unique (i.e. the USP – unique selling
point). Having some market/competitor analysis may help articulate the
value of the product and how it relates to competitors.
- Secondly, you should present a market research strategy for the product/service that would provide preliminary data surrounding the potential success of the product. This should include a research question (what you hope the research will achieve) and sections covering: methodology, sample/participants, and analysis. Be creative as you like, but try to be realistic/feasible. We are looking for application of good research practise here.
- Thirdly, you should present a summary of the marketing mix you will adopt for the product. You should include coverage of all 4 P’s(Product (or Service), Place, Price, Promotion) e.g. clarifying a pricing strategy. You should be using research to inform the decisions made e.g. why you chose £12.99 over £13.
Part
2: Advertising Report
- Firstly,
you need to present a basic advert for your product. Depending upon the
product/service, this could be a poster for the subway, a signpost for the
motorway, a pop-up on the webpage etc. Your artistic skills are not being
assessed here, so do be creative and keep it fairly basic.
- Secondly, you need to present a rationale for the design of your advert. You should be able to present the literature and theory which informed how you designed the poster. This could include, why you chose certain colours, why you focused on the USP or provided comparison prices, why you used humour, why you used a picture of someone interacting with the product, etc. For this section, you will be assessed on your application of psychological principles/findings.
